While no where do they suggest they are named after Bubba
Gump from Tom Hank’s Forrest Gump character’s war buddy and then fictional shrimp
company but I don’t think anyone would have a different explanation of where
the name came from. We visited their San Francisco location at the end of Pier
39. Here their dining room has panoramic views of the Bay Bridge, Alcatraz and the
many marina’s that like the bay.
They have an extensive drink and food menu offering obviously
shrimp but also a variety of none seafood options for those who aren’t interested.
I opted to stick with the shrimp and I got the Dumb Luck Coconut Shrimp. It was
served with a side of fries and a Cajun marmalade. The shrimp was cooked
perfectly and the coconut batter was delicious. The guys ordered various other
meals like the Shrimp and Veggie Skewers and the Captain’s Fish and Chips. None
of us complained and all three meals looked delicious too.
Along with our meals we ordered their Planter’s Punches
served in their take home glasses. It
was a great first meal in San Francisco and best part it was very close to our
hotel and located ont eh historic and very tourist friendly Pier 39.
