Name: Muir Woods National Monument
Rating: 5-stars Nestled at the foot of Mt Tamalpais is Muir Woods National Monument, one of the last few remaining old growth coastal redwoods. These giant trees and other creatures like the banana slugs survive by absorbing water from the fog that rolls in from the pacific ocean and Redwood Creek that flows through Muir Woods on its way to Muir Beach and the coast.
It took us roughly 1 hour to make the round trip on the Hillside Trail which traveled by the Bohemian Grove and then met up with the Main Trail that led through Cathedral Grove and back to the entrance to the park. It was awe inspiring to be able to look up and appreciate the shear size of these ancient giants. I think that each of us felt that this was one of the highlights from our trip.
